Acne on Back – How to Treat
If you do have some acne on back problems, well the good news is you’re not alone. But why do I get back acne?
Back acne has several other terms, the one that people familiar with are bacne (stands for back acne or body acne) and zits (a slang word for back ace). Acne on back tends to occur on the back, shoulders, upper arms, neck and the buttocks. Back acnes can be in the forms of pimples, blackheads, pustules and cysts.
If you want to know for sure what causes back acne then you will be disappointed because like any other type of acnes, there is no scientific explanation for what causes them. Most acne on back problem occurs around puberty. This happens when sebaceous glands start functioning and produce sebum. Some people’s skins produce too much sebum, clogging pores and hair follicles which can lead to acne.
There are several factors that many people believe play a role that causes back acne, such as fatty or oily food, genes, stress and excessive sweating. However, according to Acne Resource Center those that we have mentioned above have no proof to trigger back acne problems. Same thing with tight clothing and heavy backpacks.
Instead debating of what are the things that cause back acne, finding a way of how to treat acne on back would be a wiser option. So how to treat it? It is good for you know that no matter what kind of health problem you have, you better go and see your doctor in this case your dermatologist. However, for milder version of back acne you can get yourself a topical 10 percent benzoyl peroxide cream or gel.
These are the things that we are going to do: First, instead using regular soap you can wash your back with an anti-bacterial cleanser formulated for the face, like Cetaphil. Then let your back skin dry. After that you can pour out some 10 percent benzoyl peroxide gel or cream (you can get this via prescription or over the counter). Then let dry. This last step is an optional, but to get the better result some experts suggest using the benzoyl peroxide in tandem with an alpha hydroxy treatment such as Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion.
What if you have a non-milder version back acne problem? Consulting a dermatologist for prescription treatment would be a recommended action. The severe type of acnes, cysts can treated in the office.
To prevent acne on the back, you can do the exfoliation to get rid of dead skin cells. The back, buttocks and back of the arms are places where dead skin cells tend to build up. For acne on back weekly treatment, use a sugar scrub (which is milder than salt scrub) in the shower.
